PRAD & PROX introduce a new personal dose monitoring - Instadose plus from MIRION Technology, provides a new level of convenience, compliance, and effectiveness. This device provides immediate dose measurement results when connected to a mobile device with internet access via Bluetooth technology. This means that clients can get their exposure readings at any time.

 

This new badge eliminates the need for the collection and return process.  These badges will not be collected quarterly but will be with the user for up to 5 years. They will only be exchanged if the battery goes bad before 5 years.

This new cutting-edge technology is the latest industry standard and is utilized by various sectors of radiation users, from nuclear power plants, industrial and manufacturing, military operations, Healthcare: medical facilities, dental and veterinarian care.

Instadose dosimeters provide accurate, on-demand radiation measurements, dose data and monitoring reports accredited for legal dose of record compliance documentation.

​

Instadose+  dosimeters have a built-in memory chip with an embedded, unique serial code that is assigned to the user.  The accumulated radiation dose is stored on the Instadose+ dosimeter, transmitted via Bluetooth Technology, and processed through Mirion’s dosimetry algorithm. This fully automated transfer of data minimizes the chance of human error and misidentification.

 

Users will download the Instadose® mobile app to a smart device (phone or tablet) for online account access.  When a user needs to view their dose reading, they simply log-in to their account, download their data and click "Read Device". Once complete, a graphical representation of the current dose will load on the screen.

PRAD is providing instadose badges instead of TLD badges.

​

We program the badges to be read automatically monthly. This requires the Radiation safety office (RSO) to download the companion app on their phone or tablets. Once the app is installed and Bluetooth connection is on, the badge can be read automatically on a monthly basis or by pressing the button at the back of the badge to transmit the readings, thus getting real time readings.  

At PRAD/PROX, we have full access to diagnose and track the performance of each instadose badge. We notify the client via email when monthly automated reading is not successful, thus requesting that a manual button push be done to transmit the reading.

We still provide reports for our clients, even though they will have 24hrs online access.

The badges are worn and work in the same manner as the current TLDs.

The “Instadose Companion” app can be downloaded from the apple or google playstore. Once installed, initialized the badge by pressing the button at the back until the green light flashes and the app shows communication is successful.
